Moray’s hospitality sector invited to problem-sharing seminar

THE HOSPITALITY AND TOURISM ACADEMY at Moray College UHI are to hold an event that should be of great interest to all businesses in the region who are providing such services.

Richard Lochhead MSP will be attending the Hospitality Association Moray event next Monday (November 13) at the Beechtree Restaurant.

Alistair Fowlie, who is the assistant director for Hospitality and Sport at Moray College UHI, explained: “We are attempting to attract as many of those concerned with the Hospitality business in Moray as possible to the launch of this new initiative.

“It will establish a forum in Moray for local businesses to chat with each other and ourselves to address local and national issues within our industry. The initiative has already been shortlisted for a national award at the College Development Network Awards.”

The event next week will discuss issues such as attracting the correct staff, difficult to deal with peaks during the year and how do cope with them – and to raise awareness of what Moray College UHI has to offer by way of support.

Under the banner ‘How to Address Skills Shortage in the Hospitality Industry’, the event takes place at 5.30pm with those attending asked to be in place from 5pm.

Mr Fowlie said: “This is a great opportunity to begin the process of working with Moray College UHI in attempting to shape the Kitchen and Restaurant Professionals of the future.”
