ATTEMPTS TO RAISE the profile of a new linked service aimed at improving health and wellbeing of people being treated for cancer has been warmly welcomed by Moray’s MP.
Douglas Ross was speaking after attending the ‘Move More Moray’ event in Elgin Town Hall on Friday which was held to showcase the different services and classes available to people in the region.
Mr Ross said: “Being diagnosed with cancer is hard enough and traditionally it was understood that this automatically meant stopping day to day activity, whereas the reality is that some form of exercise and movement is actually a boost to their health.
“That is why I was delighted to be at Elgin Town Hall for the launch of the Move More Moray event, which showcases all the different services and classes available to people which as well as providing them with another focus, can also help their mental health and physical well-being.
“People can be referred to the service in a number of ways such as by a health professional or visiting the website to find out what is available to them.
“It was clear from the people I spoke with at the launch, be they participants or volunteers, that there are so many benefits to Move More Moray. We just need to ensure as many people as possible are aware of this great programme.”
