ONE OF MORAY’S most popular restaurants has been named as Scotland’s favourite curry house in the prestigious ‘Spice’ Awards.
Qismat on Elgin’s High Street received the accolade at a glittering ceremony at the Hilton Hotel in Glasgow this week – beating 800 original entrants to come out on top.
It is not the first time the restaurant has been noticed on the national stage – Liaqat Ali, Qismat’s owner, was winner of a lifetime achievement award two years ago for his services to the curry industry.
Judges were required to fill in a site visit report awarding scores for various criteria across taste, presentation, service and environment. All the SPICE scorecards were then sent to the venue in order that they may help to continue raise standards and improve service across this celebrated industry.
Liaqat Ali said: “We are very proud to have won the first ever Scotland’s Favourite Curry House awards at this year’s Spice Awards. We would like to thank all our customers who have voted for us and supported us throughout all these years.”
