ONE OF THE MOST popular youth groups in Moray who promote health and activity through regular football is seeking out more members as it approaches its 25th year.
Forres Area Soccer 7s are looking to encourage more young people to make the trip from other towns in Moray and so broaden the membership base.
Club chairman is Graeme Ferguson, who said: “I have been involved in youth football for over 25 years and never have I been involved with a Club that is so well organised as the Forres Area Soccer 7s and that has such a dedicated team of volunteers.”
He added: “This year we celebrate our 25th year and we are also celebrating Scotland’s Year of Young People. What better way to mark these two occasions than by really making our Club even bigger and better than ever before?
“Youth football teams are struggling up and down the country, whether it be due to funding or the huge commitment there is for the volunteers. Whilst we have our struggles, the Forres Area Soccer 7s is thriving, we meet in a central location to take kids in from across the region and even some parts of Highland.
“We are just a 10-minute drive from Elgin, we are only 25 minutes from Grantown and a half an hour car journey from Inverness. We want Forres to be the hub. It’s a great way to spend a Sunday morning. Maybe your child wants to play and there isn’t a local group for them to do that.”
Registration for the Forres Area Soccer 7s is now open and recently the Club expanded its age range to cater for four to 16 year olds. The season for the Club runs from February to the first weekend of October and is open to girls and boys of all abilities.
There are four levels the children can progress through – Development 4s (4-6-years old), Super 5s (7-9-years old) Junior 7s (10-12-years old) and Senior 7s (13-16-years old).
Prices for the 2018 are: Development 4s £30 and Super 5s, Junior 7s and Senior 7s £50.
