Two hospitalised in five-vehicle crash that blocked the A96

A FIVE VEHICLE CRASH between Forres and Nairn resulted in one casualty having to be cut free and chaos for motorists on the A96 on Friday.

Scottish Fire and Rescue Service officers said that they had to use their hydraulic gear to cut one victim free from the wreckage.

It was around 12.20pm on Friday when emergency services were alerted of the collision at Hardmuir – three fire appliances from Nairn and Inverness were rushed to the scene along with two ambulances. Two people were taken to hospital in Inverness but later reported to that their injuries were not life threatening.

The busy A96 was closed in both directions as emergency services cleared the debris before finally being reopened shortly after 4.30pm.
