NHS GRAMPIAN WILL receive additional funding of over £30million following the Scottish Budget deal finalised this week.
Moray’s MSP Richard Lochhead confirmed this week that £18.5milliion in revenue has been added to the health service along with £12.8million in capital funding.
He posed a parliamentary question to the Cabinet Secretary for Health and Sport and the reply confirmed the additional funding – now Mr Lochhead is calling on NHS Grampian to ensure that Moray receives its fair share of the increased revenue.
Some of the funding should go to the Scottish Ambulance Service to provide additional ambulance cover in Moray, he insists.
The MSP said: “It’s good news that the SNP Government’s budget delivers NHS Grampian an extra £18.5 million in revenue and £12.5 million in capital. It is important that Moray receives its fair share of this increase to help cope with existing pressures and hopefully progress the case for a new Keith Health Centre given that NHS bosses are meeting next week to decide their priorities for capital investment.
“I also note that the Scottish Ambulance Service has received a budget boost and I would like to see some of this used for additional ambulance resources in Moray particularly a new permanent emergency ambulance based in Elgin.”
