Moray Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) to apply for a Community Asset Transfer

The Moray Citizens Advice Bureau (CAB) is applying for a Community Asset Transfer to secure ownership of its offices at Moss Street, Elgin, currently on lease from Moray Council

Mary Riley, Manager of Moray Citizens Advice Bureau, explains: “Moray Citizens Advice Bureau provides a free, confidential, impartial and independent information and advice service to the community of Moray.

“Our aims is to ensure that individuals do not suffer through lack of knowledge of their rights and responsibilities or of the services available to them, or through an inability to express their needs effectively.

“Last year we helped 3037 clients with 8278 issues. Topics of enquiries include Benefits, Housing, Family, Employment, Consumer, Immigration, Health, Debt, Utilities and many more.

“In this current climate of uncertainty, we are seeking a Community Asset Transfer in an attempt to gain ownership of our offices at 6 Moss Street, Elgin, IV30 1LU.

“The purpose of the application is to secure our building, from which the service is delivered, so that we can continue to serve the community of Moray in the future.

“The location is central to Elgin and accessible on foot, by train or by car.”

As part of a national network (Citizens Advice Scotland), the Bureau also seeks to influence the development of social policies and services both locally and nationally.
