Over-60s activity groups set to expand to Findochty and Cullen

A network of groups that encourage over-60’s to remain active and involved in their communities is to be expanded.

‘Be Active Live Long’ (BALL) groups have been popular throughout Moray with some 17 groups in operation throughout the region.

Now these are to be expanded with plans being put in place to introduce the concepts for the first time to Findochty and Cullen, while a third Elgin groups is to be formed in Bishopmill.

Over-60’s in these areas have been invited to attend a free ‘taster’ day providing an introduction to what BALL groups have to offer – with a free lunch and refreshments being provided for those who attend.

The first session will take place at Bishopmill Hall on Monday, August 25 from 9.30am to 3pm with the group then meeting every Monday from 10am to 12noon beginning on September 8.

Findochty’s taster day will be held in the town hall on Wednesday, August 27 from 9.30am to 3pm, with regular weekly meetings taking place every Wednesday from 2pm to 4pm beginning on September 10.

The community and residential centre will be the venue for the Cullen taster session on Thursday, August 28, again from 9.30am to 3pm. The first group meeting will follow on Thursday, September 11 from 10am to 12noon.

Booking is essential for all three events and can be made by calling Moray Council’s older people’s development team on 01343 567093 or 01343 567142.
